Description
When you notice gear oil puddles under your parked tractor or that telltale slick coating on your brake drums, it’s time to replace that half axle seal. This little component does the important job of keeping your expensive gear oil inside the rear axle housing where it belongs, instead of creating a messy hazard that can mess with your brakes when you need them most.
What You’re Getting
- Spring-loaded sealing lip that flexes with axle movement while keeping constant pressure on the shaft
- Heavy-duty metal outer casing built to handle the vibration and pressure of serious farm work
- Heat-resistant materials that keep working through temperature swings and long operating days
- Dual-purpose design that stops oil from leaking out while keeping dirt and moisture from getting in
Built for Real Farm Work
This seal fits the workhorses in Massey Ferguson’s lineup – from the versatile 3600 series utility tractors up through the heavy-duty 8100 and 8200 series machines. Whether you’re running a mid-size 3690 through muddy fields or using a big 8200 series to pull large implements across hundreds of acres, these tractors depend on proper axle sealing to keep their gear oil where it should be and their brake systems clean.
Made to Last
Farm equipment takes a beating from dust, mud, temperature extremes, and constant vibration from rough terrain. This seal uses high-grade synthetic rubber that won’t crack or harden even after years of exposure to hydraulic fluid and diesel fuel. The steel outer shell keeps the seal from getting pushed out of position by pressure or impact damage.
Good to Know
Before installing, check your axle shaft for scoring or grooves that could prevent proper sealing – light scratches can usually be polished out with fine emery cloth. Always clean the seal housing thoroughly and apply a thin coat of gear oil to the sealing lip before installation. Make sure the seal sits completely flush, because even a slight tilt will cause immediate failure.
