Description
When your David Brown starts running hot during hay season or that temperature gauge creeps into the red zone, chances are good your water pump is giving up the ghost. The water pump maintains critical engine operating temperatures by circulating coolant through the AD3/55 engine block, cylinder head, and radiator system, preventing costly overheating damage. This new type replacement gets your cooling system back to keeping that three-cylinder diesel happy and cool.
What You’re Getting
- New type design incorporates improvements in sealing, bearing life, and impeller efficiency compared to earlier versions
- Complete assembly with mounting gasket included—no hunting for extra parts
- Heavy-duty construction built to handle the daily grind of farm work
- Direct replacement that bolts right in place of your old pump
Built for Real Farm Work
David Brown 800 series tractors were versatile British-built utility machines widely used in European agriculture from the mid-1960s through 1980s. The 880 models, available in both Selectamatic and standard configurations, typically operated at 46 horsepower, making them ideal for mixed farming operations, cultivation, hay production, and livestock management. The 885 tractors provided approximately 43 horsepower for smaller farm operations, estate work, and specialized agricultural tasks. These tractors still earn their keep today on farms where reliability matters more than fancy electronics.
Made to Last
Proper cooling system function maintains optimal combustion temperatures, protects engine components from thermal stress, and ensures consistent power output during extended work periods. Efficient coolant circulation prevents hot spots and maintains uniform engine temperature distribution, contributing to extended engine life and reduced maintenance costs. This pump is built to handle the temperature swings and vibration that come with real farm work.
Installation Notes
This new type water pump is specifically designed for David Brown 885 tractors and 880 models with serial numbers from 24645 onwards with live drive, and serial numbers from 2984 onwards for non-live drive configurations. You’ll need to drain your cooling system completely and always replace the gasket during installation. While you’re at it, it’s a good time to check your hoses and flush the system with fresh coolant.
