Description
When you hear that telltale knock from deep inside your engine or notice oil pressure dropping, those main bearings are telling you they’ve had enough. The crankshaft spins thousands of times per minute in those bearings, and after years of hard work, they wear down and need replacing. This main bearing set gets your John Deere diesel running smooth and quiet again so you can get back to the field work that’s waiting.
What You’re Getting
- Complete bearing set with proper locating tabs positioned off-center on top half, centered on lower half for perfect alignment
- Standard size replacement bearings that fit like the originals without machine work
- Quality TISCO construction built to handle the loads and stress of diesel engine operation
- Direct replacement for multiple bearing part numbers—no guessing about compatibility
Built for Heavy-Duty Engine Work
This bearing kit works in John Deere’s 381 CID, 404 CID, and 466 CID 6-cylinder diesel engines that power tractors from the 4020 era through later models. These engines see serious duty whether you’re pulling heavy implements, running the PTO at full load, or putting in long days during harvest. Both turbocharged and naturally aspirated versions use the same bearing configuration.
Made to Handle the Load
Main bearings take tremendous forces from the crankshaft, especially in diesel engines where compression and combustion pressures run high. These bearings are manufactured with the proper materials and clearances to support your crankshaft while maintaining the oil film that keeps everything lubricated and protected.
Installation Notes
This is serious engine work that requires proper tools, torque specs, and clean working conditions. The bearing tabs must be positioned correctly to prevent rotation, and the crankshaft journals should be checked for wear and proper clearances. If you’re rebuilding the bottom end, it’s smart to check connecting rod bearings at the same time.
