Description
When your conveyor chain starts to sag or your hay elevator is skipping, a worn-out chain tensioner is usually the culprit. This little component works hard to keep the right amount of tension on roller chains, preventing slippage and premature wear that can shut down your operation when you need it most. A proper tensioner maintains consistent chain alignment and reduces the noise and vibration that comes with loose or improperly adjusted chains.
What You’re Getting
- Works with #80 pitch and smaller roller chains commonly found on farm equipment
- Multiple bolt hole sizes (1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 3/8 inch) for versatile mounting options
- Rugged pulley wheel with quality bearings that handles continuous operation
- Adjustable design lets you fine-tune chain tension for optimal performance
- Built to TISCO’s agricultural equipment standards
Built for Real Farm Work
This tensioner fits on a wide range of equipment that uses #80 and smaller roller chains – hay elevators, portable conveyors, feed mixers, grain cleaners, and various PTO-driven implements. It’s the same type of setup you’ll find on countless pieces of farm machinery where consistent chain tension is critical for reliable operation. Whether you’re moving grain, handling hay, or operating processing equipment, proper chain tension keeps everything running smoothly.
Made to Last
Farm equipment tensioners take a beating from dust, weather, and constant use. This one features a durable pulley wheel with quality bearings that can handle the vibration and side loads that come with agricultural applications. The mounting bracket is built heavy enough to maintain proper alignment even when chains are under full working load.
Good to Know
When installing, position the tensioner so it applies pressure to the slack side of the chain, typically opposite the drive sprocket. Start with moderate tension – too tight puts excessive load on bearings and chains, while too loose allows skipping. Most chains need about 1/2 inch of deflection at the center of the longest span when properly tensioned. Keep the pulley wheel lubricated according to your equipment manual for maximum service life.
