Description
If you’ve been dealing with transmission vibration, harsh shifting, or that annoying chatter when you’re engaging the clutch, chances are your clutch damper is worn out. This little component sits between your clutch disc and transmission input shaft, and its job is to smooth out all the torsional shock that comes from engine power pulses hitting your drivetrain. When it’s working right, you don’t even know it’s there—when it’s not, you’ll feel every power stroke in the seat of your pants.
What You’re Getting
- LUK-manufactured damper built to original equipment standards for long service life
- 26-tooth spline configuration with 348mm diameter matches your tractor’s transmission perfectly
- Internal springs absorb shock loads and smooth power delivery to protect transmission components
- Direct replacement that installs with standard clutch service procedures
Built for Real Farm Work
This damper fits the workhorse tractors in Massey Ferguson’s 5400 and 6400 series lineup—machines that spend their days pulling everything from disc harrows to manure spreaders. These mid-range utility tractors see hard use in hay fields, grain operations, and livestock farms where smooth power delivery makes the difference between getting the job done and fighting your equipment all day long.
Made to Last
LUK components are what Massey Ferguson puts in these tractors from the factory, so you know you’re getting the same quality that was designed to handle years of field work. The internal damping springs are calibrated specifically for your tractor’s power characteristics, ensuring proper vibration control without robbing power or creating lag in the drivetrain.
Installation Notes
This damper installs as part of your clutch service—you’ll need to split the tractor to access it. While you’re in there, it’s smart to replace the whole clutch assembly if any components show wear. The damper bolts to the clutch disc with the retaining screws (part 63131 sold separately). Check that the spline engagement is smooth and clean—any burrs or damage will cause premature wear.
