Description
When your Ford 8000 is burning oil, blowing black smoke, or just doesn’t have the pull it used to, it’s time for more than a simple tune-up. After decades of faithful service running hard from sunup to sundown, eventually everything wears out. This basic in-frame overhaul kit gets you back to work without the expense and downtime of pulling the whole engine out of the tractor.
What You’re Getting
- Standard pistons and rings that restore compression and stop oil burning
- Pin bushings and retainers built to handle the heavy loads these big diesels put out
- Complete valve-grind gasket set that seals everything from head to oil pan
- Oil pan gasket to stop those annoying leaks under the tractor
- Everything sourced to original Ford specifications for proper fit and performance
Built for Real Farm Work
The Ford 8000 was built for serious row-crop and heavy-duty farm work where you need the power of a big 6-cylinder diesel. These tractors earned their reputation pulling heavy equipment through tough soil conditions, running PTO implements all day, and handling the biggest jobs on the farm. The 401 cubic inch engine was designed to run hard and long, and this kit helps it keep doing what it was built for.
Made to Last
The Tru-Power brand has been trusted by farmers for decades, and they understand what it takes to handle the constant vibration and temperature cycles of tractor work. The pistons are built to handle the compression ratios these diesels need, while the gaskets use materials that won’t fail from heat cycling between cold morning starts and hot summer shutdowns.
Installation Notes
This is an in-frame rebuild, which means the engine can stay in the tractor while you work. You’ll still need to pull the head and oil pan, but it’s a lot less work than a complete teardown. Check cylinder bore condition and crankshaft journals while you have everything apart—if the cylinders are scored or the crank needs turning, you’ll need machine shop work before reassembly.
