Description
When you hear your cooling fan roaring constantly or notice your engine running hot on what should be a cool day, it’s likely time to replace that viscous fan clutch. This smart component is the brain of your cooling system – it knows exactly when your engine needs maximum cooling and when it can ease off to save fuel and free up horsepower. A failed clutch either locks up and wastes fuel every hour, or won’t engage when needed and puts your expensive engine at risk.
What You’re Getting
- Temperature-sensitive viscous coupling that automatically adjusts fan speed based on actual conditions
- Smooth progressive engagement that prevents shock loads on belts and bearings
- Direct OEM replacement that restores factory cooling control without modifications
- Sealed precision unit that maintains calibration throughout its service life
- Fuel-saving design that typically frees up 5-10 horsepower during normal operation
Built for Real Farm Work
This clutch handles the demanding cooling needs of Case IH MX100, MX110, MX120, and MX135 tractors, plus McCormick MTX110 and MTX140 models. These are serious mid-range workhorses used for everything from loader work and hay operations to row crop farming and transport. When you’re pulling heavy implements or running PTO equipment hard, proper cooling management keeps you working instead of waiting for repairs.
Made to Last
Inside this clutch is a precisely calibrated system using temperature-sensitive silicone fluid. When your engine is cold, the fluid stays thin and lets the fan slip, reducing power draw to almost nothing. As things heat up, the fluid thickens progressively to provide exactly the cooling needed – never more, never less. This sophisticated design handles the temperature swings and vibration that farm equipment dishes out.
Installation Notes
Never lay the clutch on its side or upside down during installation – this can cause the silicone fluid to migrate and affect operation. Check your fan blades for damage or imbalance first, since a bent fan will destroy a new clutch quickly. The unit should spin freely when cold but show increasing resistance as it warms up. Clean your radiator thoroughly while you’re at it for best results.
